Oh Gold how I Love You

I should have taken a before and after shot but like always I get so excited to fix up what ever it is I buy the way I want that I fail to think of taking a before picture.
I have been wanting a set of two lamps for a while and surprisingly lamps are more on the expensive side. So I have been faithfully looking at the DI and KSL for used lamps that I could just fix up. Well finally I found these beauties on KSL for $10! What a steal. They were brown so I brought them back to life using gold spray paint and a clear coat. The most expensive part ended up being the lamps shades which were not too bad- Walmart for $30 for both (I tried target but they didn't have the texture I was looking for so Walmart did the trick, and I normally am not a Walmart shopper.) Total spent- $50.00 not bad for two lamps!

Here is the end result:

I also did a little update on my living room-

Oh and did I mention I upholstered the accent chairs!? I have not blogged about that but will soon:)
That is all for today!

Owen's 1st Birthday Party

My son is one.
I have been planning this party for three months and spent a week prepping all the little details.
I feel so blessed to have such a good little one year old and I think he deserved a good celebration of his little life.

Invitations

I made all these signs on photo shop-

This cake took hours for me to make, mostly because it is the first stacked cake I have ever made and probably ever will make.

For the cupcakes I just used french vanilla Duncan cake mix. I made cream cheese frosting to go on the top and the "sand" is just mashed graham crackers. For the toppers I just used paper (or you can use foam paper) and then I taped them onto toothpicks.

I used Swedish fish for this but what I really wanted to use was the little gummy sharks although I didn't think anyone would eat them and all the swedish fish were gone by the end of the night.

For the drinks I just used mason jars and cute straws that I got from target.

This little guy had a wonderful time and was/is spoiled with love!

A Little Place We Call Home

This summer my husband and I moved into this quaint little home in Sugar House.
We love everything about. It is a perfect size for our family of three.

I have really enjoyed putting everything together. Although I still have a lot of ideas and more things I want to do I have to constantly remind myself we are on a budget and our main goal is to get my husband through school and make sure he graduates debt free!

Our living room:

I decided I wanted the warmth and welcome of traditional design and the clean, simple lines of contemporary style. So that is why I decorated my living room in a transitional style which seems to create a perfect harmony.

Owen's Room:

For Owen's room I did a very traditional style. To be honest this is not my dream room for him but because most of the furniture was either free or from KSL I was able to make do with the resources I had:)

Master Bedroom:

This is an E-Board I created of my plans for our bedroom.

Thanks for stopping by!
